Project „Career Development 2020“ was formed on Arménská elementary school in Brno by principal and EVVO
coordinator in cooperation with other teachers and members of Czech-Slovenian society association.
The results of already carried out projects have shown that this urban housing estate school has a many high-quality
results comparable to the international level, but at the same time, it is facing an increased amount of socio-pathological
phenomena which have to be dealt in preventive programs.
The current goal of education is “A high-quality, safe and open school”
As in other EU countries, the number of immigrant children and pupils growing up in single-parent families and in lessstimulating
or at-risk environments is increasing. In the prevention programs followed by the EWC schools, the long-term
objective is:
Arménská elementary school is a modern European school opened to innovations, which focuses on environmental and
multicultural education in Europe, using new teaching methods and forms (eg. CLIL, inverted learning, experiential
learning in nature, etc.) and the integration of modern ICT into teaching (eg. eTwinning, etc.). The aim of education at this
school in an inclusion environment is the universal development of all students.
Therefore, the general aim of the project is to improve the education provided by the school and the host organization
(Naklo Elementary School in Slovenia) in a European context. This general objective is to be achieved by developing the
professional competencies of the staff (particularly in the area of language teaching and environmental education in the
project), and by developing language skills, didactic and professional knowledge of teachers who do not have a foreign
language qualification. Last but not least, the principal´s and the project team´s effort is to acquire and implement into the
teaching methods modern trends of education from abroad and to work on creating a school vision in a European
context.
ZŠ Arménská is asking for mobility for 5 teachers in the project, allowing job-shadowing (examples of good practice
according to expertise) in Elementary School Naklo in Slovenia. Mobility enables observation of methods and procedures
introduced in the receiving organization, discussion, or even possible testing in real environment. Dissemination of the
results of mobility then impact in practice of schools of both countries.
Aims and results of activities:
One English language teacher will gain experience in using the method “inverted class” and preparing a project in the
KA2 partnership using eTwinning. He will share his knowledge of foreign language teaching methodology with other
teachers, which will contribute to the development of their professional skills.
One teacher for the first stage and the EEA coordinator will gain experience in using the experiential learning and CLIL in
environmental education. CLIL in practice: teacher will prepare multilingual tools for environmental education of other
teachers and pupils. As a result, mobility will contribute to improving the teaching of foreign languages at school for both
teachers and students.
One biology / natural science teacher and project manager will gain experience using reverse teaching method about
nature in nature and experience for managing KA2 partnership projects, monitoring and evaluating foreign projects.
One inanimate nature teacher will gain experience in integrated teaching method about living and inanimate nature in
environmental education. Because of his knowledge of Slovenian, he will act as interpter in case of communication
problems and will prevent language barriers for mobility.
The principal will gain experience in shadowing of the science day, which includes science, English, art and technical
lessons. He will also evaluate the use of therapeutic activity with horses, on specialized farm in Naklo and together with
the management of Naklo school will execute the analysis of education programs of both schools and countries. He will
also monitor shadowing teaching method and prepare project for parthership in KA2 Erasmus+ program.
The project will be implemented during the school year 2020 – 2021. At the end of the mobilities, participants will share
their experiences with colleagues and other local schools. Information on the course and outputs of the project will be
published on the school website and in the press.
Teachers of “non-linguistic” subjects who participate in the school’s international activities will be a model for colleagues
and pupils, increasing their motivation for lifelong learning abroad. The project as a whole will support the prestige of the school and will clearly declare its pro-European direction, which will increase the institution’s competitiveness.
